We witnessed the power of charisma in the recent Olympics. Athletes who were able to make a nation beat with the same heart as they endeavoured to win a medal for their country. Leaders in their own way, these sports men and women were able to create an emotional response that led vast numbers of British people to support and follow them.
The parallels in leadership are clear. Charismatic leaders such Martin Luther King, Winston Churchill and Richard Branson have all been known as dynamic, charismatic individuals able to inspire hearts and minds.
The value of engaging, authentic leaders in business cannot be underestimated. Steve Austin of Best Companies says: “The way employers treat employees has a direct effect on how employees treat customers. Customers, or service users, vote with their feet depending on the quality of the interaction they experience with any given organisation. In order to peel back the layers and unlock the blocks to individual charisma and authentic leadership we restrict the number of delegates to 10 per course. This course takes people on a real life changing journey and therefore the level of emotional and mental support each person receives is crucial. We prefer to treat people as people not as numbers on a course so in restricting the numbers we are able to provide that support within a safe learning environment.
